So AT&T, having locked its tractor beam onto Cingular, is now morphing Cingular’s clever marketing slogan

“Raising the Bar”

into the considerably less clever

“More Bars in More Places”

This calls to mind the Infoworld columnist who long ago said, “If AT&T were to buy KFC, they’d change the slogan to ‘Hot Dead Chicken’.”  More Bars in More Places seems to indicate their desire to employ just this sort of drably direct marketing tactic.

Or maybe they’re just planning ahead for a future acquisition of Liquor World.
