The identity theft marketplace

For the geeks among us:

My colleague Scott Berinato, who you have already ascertained to be much more interesting than I am, has done a deep exploration of the economics of identity theft and malware.

Of particular note is the video (embedded up high in the article), which is a walkthrough of a security researcher getting behind the curtain of a hacker’s website where stolen identities, credit card info, etc are sold in a sort of service.

If you’re in the mood for something shorter, there’s an accompanying story that details the first instants of a Trojan as it unpacks itself on a newly infected computer.
