Jared Diamond

Eclectic Irish blogger Shazgood found a nice video clip featuring that flame-bearer of interdisciplinary scholarship, Jared Diamond [link fixed] , author of the #1 Book I Should Have Finished but Didn’t, Guns, Germs and Steel.

In this particular video, Diamond and others examine the fate of the inhabitants of Easter Island (and what it might mean for our overcrowded planet). Apparently when they weren’t building enigmatic statues, they were eating each other. Stanford biologist Dr. Paul Ehrlich steals the show with the line “One of the classic curses on Easter Island was, ‘Your mother is… stuck between my teeth’.”
